Project: Pompidoux Blue

Introduction

This project is a practical one, moreso than the other ones which are driven by desire, or boredom. Basically, I have been thinking for a while about the possibility of building a case from scratch, and also am starting to acquire a substantial amount of blue stuff from other jobs - i'm going off blue - its so "last season" and everyone is doing it so time for a change in my main projects. However, I'm also tight and loath to see the stuff i blatently overpaid for go to waste, so going to stuff it all into here somehow.

The Pompidoux reference comes from the Pompidoux Centre in Paris - a building which is both unusual, and significant in that all of the pipework ducting, cabling etc is visible and on the outside of the building. In a similar vein, I want to use external routing for cables etc to minimise internal clutter. The plan is that the cable will travel from a central box on the top of the case, to everything else, via pipes mounted outside the case. Internal cabling will be kept to a miniumum - should effectively be just the shortest length possible going from a hole in the side, directly to where it needs to be. This will also require some major rewiring - extensions etc, but its nothing overly complex - just time consuming. This project is also the lowest priority project at this time, as I don't actually have a PC to put inside it yet - although by the time i start construction I may well have 2 or more going spare due to the nature of my work. Time will tell.
